There are 400 Aboriginal Tribes in Australia who have been around for more than 30,000 years already. Aboriginal men used to be the one who hunts the food, while the women pick up fruit and vegetables and are the ones who cook the meals. There are very important cooking apparatus that the Aborigines use a long time ago. The technology they used for cooking is very unique even though it was still the primitive age. They have their own way of cooking in order to create a certain specialty or delicacy. This is why each cooking material used by the aborigine is very important.

Bark Baskets

Aboriginal people used to steam, saute and boil different kinds of food in a basket which is made out of tree bark. This kind of cooking apparatus is greatly used in the outback region of Australia. There is a certain tribe in the Aboriginal Australia that uses tree bark to create different kinds of dishes, pots, cups, and many more. Some of these apparatus made out of barks are very big that birds are able to fit in. There are also Aboriginal Australians that makes spoon and paper out of barks. The trees that has barks that can be used for cooking are birch tree, Cajeput tree and many more.

Sticks

There were still no metal apparatus available during the primitive age of the Aboriginal people in Australia. So, they used sticks to cook. They skew meat and vegetables on stick to cook them beside fires. They also roast gamer with wooden spits created as a bigger limb. They also use long sticks so that they can stoke fire in a distance. There are many more uses for sticks for the cooking of the Aborigines in Australia.

Hot Stones

They cook different kinds of food on hot stones. Hot stones serve as their frying pan. They use these stones to open nuts and soften vegetables. They also use these hot stones to fry small animals and insects. They call these hot stones as “fire stones” these stones symbolizes and represents the Australian Aborigine. These stones are very important for the cooking of the Aboriginal people in Australia.

Earth Ovens

The food that are very big and can’t be cooked in hot stones or simple cooking fire are cooked in Earth Ovens. Earth ovens are filled with hot stones, coal, and hot ashes. This can roast food for a long period of time. Large food like kangaroos and emus are cooked in Earth ovens. Earth Ovens serves as their roaster or, as the name implies, oven. There are many more big animals and food that they can cook in these Earth Ovens.
